Supporting Conversations That Strengthen Families

For Families Connected with Op COURAGE services in London and Midlands

When a family member is living with any kind of injury or trauma following military service, it affects the whole household, including children. Children may not always have the words to express what they feel, but they notice when things change. They may sense when you're struggling, even if they don’t fully understand why.

That's why The Ripple Pond have produced the following resources to help you with the conversations that you are already having.  They are differentiated for KS1, KS2 and KS3, so that you can adapt them to meet the needs and understanding of your child (ren).  In them you will find advice around having conversations, a script with age appropriate language to talk about injury, as well as optional video links and further resources to support ongoing conversations.

These resources have been produced alongside health and educational professionals, a clinical psychologist, as well as those with lived experience to help you have the conversations that matter.

*Please note that these resources have been shared with our partners in Op COURAGE Midlands and London for use with families connected with their service and not to be shared or distributed outside of this without prior permission.
